This week's Project Spotlight keeps the drama on the stage and out of the structural design!

Corbally Consulting is thrilled to be involved in the total redevelopment of Burnaby’s historic James Cowan Theatre. Originally built as a 1940s gymnasium and converted to a theatre in 1995, this beloved structure is getting a top-to-bottom, modern transformation.

In addition to seismic upgrades and accessibility improvements, when finished, the new 38,000 SF facility will boast a modern theatre auditorium, complete with 364 retractable seats, which allow for the room to serve as a multipurpose room and host conventions and events. There will also be new studio spaces for visual arts, programming, and literary and theatre arts, as well as the reopening of popular Encores Cafe and Bar.

With these improvements, James Cowan Theatre and the iconic Shadbolt Centre for the Arts can continue to serve as the city's premier creative hub for years to come.

On this project, Corbally Consulting is performing the structural design of the cladding, including ACM and Ceraclad fiber cement panels.
