Whoever said that work and play don't mix was clearly not involved in the new Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre in North Vancouver, BC. From top to bottom, it's design seamlessly blends utility, style and fun. There is even a slide between floors in the main atrium area for when stairs just aren't your vibe!
The facility, which has officially partially opened it's doors to the public, is nearly 100% complete (check out the last few photos from a recent site visit), and is offering its community a diverse variety of amenities and programs. In addition to the whimsical slide, #HJCRC also boasts a new swimming pool, NHL-sized ice rink, seniors' center, skate park, fitness center, gymnasium, preschool, youth center, arts and crafts rooms, and multipurpose rooms. The structure, itself, is a hybrid of steel, concrete and mass timber.
On this project, Corbally Consulting performed the structural engineering of the interior and exterior curtain wall, interior storefront, interior and exterior sliding doors and interior and exterior guards.
